May 2025 - A Busy Month!

This month really represented the varied and types of repair and  maintenance jobs that I am tasked to do.

- Repaired a rotten sub floor and installing new vinyl tiles.

There had been a leak on the shower screen for a while and this had completely rotted the chipboard and ply sub floor.

I removed the damaged area, built up the floor and levelled. I used 22mm moisture resistant flooring with 9mm ply over. I then installed new vinyl tiles.

- Replaced missing bricks and making good where an old flue had been removed.

The previous plumbers had failed to make good the outside wall. I stitched out the remaining bricks and replaced, with as close a match that I could find.

- Repaired a sub floor in a downstairs cloakroom, where the existing had rotted away.

The sub floor had completely disintergrated while Jon was replacing the toilet.

I built it back up, installed 22mm flooring over and latexed the whole floor, ready for lino.

I installed panelling and trim to replace missing tiles and siliconed in.

- Prepared and painted the first floor render of a house in Willingdon

This stunning house just needed a bit of a face lift. I scrapped off the flaky and loose paint and used a funigal product to discourage growth. I then gave it two generous coats of masonry paint.

- Removed damaged tiles and plasterboard, installing new moisture board and retiling wall.

The shower needed replacing along with the black tiles that were damaged on the shower wall and making the whole area damp. I removed the existing tiles and wet plasterboard and replaced with a foam core moisture board. Jon adjusted the pipes and we set about re-tiling the area in a metro tile, which the customer had chosen.

It was a days work and we were really pleased with the finished job, and more imporetantly, so was the customer.

Some of the other jobs I completed in May:

- Prepared and glossed a set of external doors.

- Removed old silicone and resiliconed a bath.

- Removed a fireplace and made good.

- Installed a sliding door system and made a covering pelmet.

- Made and installed a custom bath panel.

- Prepared and glossed fascia boards on a garage.

- Ran new pipe work and installed 5 new Radiators, along side Jon.

- Fitted Backsplash panels to Kitchen and Utility Room and tiled window sill.

- Two boiler changes with Jon.

 - Repaired a damaged patio

The front of this patio had sunk into the ground causing it to collapse, I investigated and found it had no footing. I stripped it back, dug and concreted a footing. I cemented in the first layer of slabs before installing the top layer and pointed in to match the existing rustic look.
